We have been in Borroloola for nearly 10 years. We have been planning to take a break for
the last couple of years, but we both feel now it is the right time.
AIM has also actively encouraged us to take some well earned time out.
Glenys and I both felt that it was time to give Jarrod and Benjamin some earned way from the
remotenesss of the NT. and a chance for them to take up employment and education opportunities not available in Borroloola.
Even though we will be away for a year we will not stop working for our people.
There is much to be done in the way of sourcing and developing teaching materials suitable
for the remote Indigenous people we work with.
We also plan to get training that will enable us to teach the local people how to become more
self sufficient. This will envolve us helping to set up local cottage industries and business, so that the people may become
more independant.
